The Kadoma bent is CEKR\u2019s flagship whitewater paddle. Combining perfect ergonomics with robust construction, the Kadoma inspires confidence and rewards finesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blade and shaft design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kadoma blade and bent shaft were designed together to create the smoothest transition between grip and blade. This results in a paddle that feels intuitive in the water while also reducing structural stress points in both the shaft and blade to a minimum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blade design offers a unique combination of no flutter in the forward stroke, very smooth sliding strokes and a stable back stroke. It is powerful yet predictable. The voluminous blade feels light in the water, and an added bonus is that it floats high if you should part company with it. All these attributes make it the perfect blade for running whitewater. It can be used for playboating, but it really comes into its own when threading smooth lines down complex rapids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bent shaft design is centered around two key concepts: perfect alignment of the wrists and smooth transitions between different sections of the shaft. The grips are asymmetrical for maximum control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kadoma blades and shaft are carefully constructed with a composite mixture of carbon fibre, different types of glass and a tough epoxy resin, making it extremely tough and durable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Origin of the name<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Kadoma\u2019 is the nickname given to the late Hendri Coetzee by Ugandan locals; it means \u2018traveller\u2019 in one dialect and \u2018bravery\u2019 in another. Hendri was a close friend of mine, and his untimely death left a huge void in my own heart and also in the whitewater community. I chose to honour Hendri\u2019s memory with this blade design, which I\u2019m sure would bring a smile to his face wherever he is riding the dragon\u2019s back right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
